Holiday is nearly over

22.9.11
I woke early to a fog, so thick that I could not see the van that had parked just a few metres behind us. It is hard to imagine the heat we complained of just over a week ago, because even snuggled in my -10 degree sleeping bag, I feel cold! Bill is sleeping quite soundly, so I lay listening to my Ipod for a couple of hours before finally clambouring over him to make a cuppa around 7am. Bill slept until around 8.30, which he probably needed.
We hit the road on our final leg to Paris. We decided to use motorways, as we are around 3 hours out of Paris and now that our noses are pointed that way, we were anxious to get back to town (Bois de Bologne) where we packed up our gear ready for departure tomorrow. With some difficulty, we managed to get the lids closed on the bags and once again, swore that we will never take this much luggage again!
Once this was done, we headed off into Paris for our final look. It truly is a lovely city, but after the 2 month ‘down time’ during the July and August holiday break, it has cranked back up into full swing and is quite busy so we decide to head back out to Port Maillot for our last dinner in France. Also went an extra couple of stops to see ‘The Grande Arch’ at La Defense – a modern, thriving, business centre for Paris. Port Maillot is just perfect for dinner – and we decide to share the Escargots and also a French Onion soup for entrĂ©e.
Tomorrow the van needs to be returned, followed by our train trip back to London on Eurostar back to London, followed by boarding the Qantas A380 later in the evening. We have a stopover for a few hours in Singapore, where we will have a swim and freshen up at the hotel airport before the last leg.
