identified that I want to visit- Piazzale Michelangelo, with its magnificent views over Florence being first. This is also somewhat significant to us Australians, as our troops were based behind this hill when they came to assist in the defence of Florence in 1944.
It is a beautiful, clear day so views are panoramic.
Later we join the second route that takes us to the hillside village of Fiesole, where some peace from the frantic pace of Florence on a Saturday is welcomed! Once more we are blessed with panoramic views and a brief wander through the pretty Tuscan town.
Of course there were the galleries, the churches, the monuments, the sculptures. Then the names we know from the world of art, architecture, sculpture and Science. Both Galileo and Leonardo da Vinci are closely linked to the city of Florence. It becomes somewhat overwhelming!
