Colmar

We arrived early in Colmar-about 25 mins trainride from Strasbourg. The first snow was sighted on some mountaintops as we passed the flat fields where produce is grown. This is also a grape growing region with lovely, crisp white wine their specialty.
Colmar, like Strasbourg is a town that has survived the adversity of conflict over the centuries. Examples of structures through from Roman times, Gothic, Medieval and Renaissance are there. It is also a mix of xultures - French, German, Swiss and Dutch being obvious.
Like most places, the old village involved a walk from the gare through the more contemporary (post ww2) structures. It is also on this village that the Christmas markets are held.
We were not disappointed! We also met and chatted with a lovely Swiss man whose daighter went to Australia for a holiday.... Hes since been to Sydney once to see her!
I will let the photos tell the story!
