Old and New

Strasbourg is the official seat of the EU Parliament. This role is somewhat shared with Luxembourg and Brussels. So along with the old village situated on the Ile and some surrounds, there is also the modern part of town. This was today's walk. So as all those Christmas Markets are replaced with more usual fish, bread, fruit and veg etc we also found the huge modern shopping mall and cinema, along with the Parliamentary building.

Of course there was also just a little bit more of the old as well! Inside the Cathedral we took a closer look at, amongst other things the astronomical clock.

A part of the old city wall remains since Roman times. It always amazes
us to be reminded how far this empire extended-yet only remnants of the buildings of a fallen empire remain.
And finally of course some familiar scenes- taken from a different angle.
