Joyeux Noel

Midnight mass - done. A 3 hr marathon by the time we waited in queue. Music was a little disappointing. Two beautiful organs, an orchestra, choir and soloist. Mostly an unfamiliar style and Mass a combo of Latin and French that was very long. We didn't make it to the end. Tired, not moving and a drop in temp in a huge, Gothic cathedral equals freezing. I could put beanie and hood on. Bill couldn't. This was being policex. Security was tight but no incidents.
Of course I was still up early. Streets are quiet. Markets closed. Only some eateries open - and the tourist office.
Bateau cruise booked for evening.
How much more do you notice when streets are not a seething mass of people.
After a rest wandered again. A few more people around and a lovely, quiet atmosphere.  Boat cruise nice. The history here is so interesting. Architecture is described as a feast for the eyes. So true. Many centuries/styles very evident.
